BLACK DAZE is the Ultimate Tribute to Soundgarden!
What began as a side project to stay focused and productive during the COVID-19 pandemic turned into Black Daze - The Ultimate Soundgarden Tribute. Nikki Lane Taylor (drums, vocals) and Chaz Leon (vocals, guitar) decided to form a band that would challenge them musically. Noticing the resemblance between Chaz and Chris Cornell, Nikki suggested a Soundgarden Tribute. After a bit of laughter, knowing this would be an extremely difficult task, they recruited two outstanding, veteran players who were also up to the challenge: Greg Coates (bass, vocals) and Dennis D'Angelo (guitar, vocals). All band members being Soundgarden fans, after their first jam the excitement and musical chemistry between them was immediate and undeniable. The rest is history…
What sets BLACK DAZE apart?
Black Daze focuses on music from all eras of Soundgarden, including many deep cuts loved by die-hard fans that are rarely, if ever, performed live. The majority of Cornell tribute bands will pay homage to Chris Cornell, only incorporating a few well known songs by Soundgarden into their set list. Black Daze performs a wide range of songs within the entire Soundgarden catalogue, as well as popular hits from Chris’ solo career, Temple of the Dog and Audio Slave.

The Band
Nikki Taylor
Nikki Lane Taylor is a professional drummer/vocalist located in LA who is recognized as a hard hitting, creative, versatile artist. Growing up in a family with a strong musical background made it easy for her to adapt to the lifestyle. Nikki was given her first drum set when she was three years old and has been slamming the skins ever since. Studying with many well known drummers, she developed a well-rounded, unique (ambidextrous) style. Her ability to play multiple genres of music has gained her notoriety and respect in the industry.
Dennis D'Angelo
Dennis D’Angelo is a Brazilian born guitar player, who has been living and actively contributing to the American music scene for the past 9 years. At the age of 15 he started playing guitar and soon was performing live with tribute bands in Brazil. In 2012, he moved to Boston, to study at Berklee College of Music, from which he graduated with a degree in production and composition. There, Dennis was able to collaborate, produce, perform in and make lifelong relationships with many musicians from all corners of the world.
Chaz Leon
Chaz Leon is a Southern California native who has been playing guitar since his early teenage years. A lifelong fan of rock and metal music, he joined forces with like minded musicians and has played in several original and tribute bands in the SoCal music scene. With a desire to expand his musical knowledge, Chaz began taking vocal lessons. Not one to shy away from a challenge, he studied advanced vocal styles and techniques to hone in on his craft. With boundless passion and energy on stage, Chaz channels the authenticity of Chris Cornell like no other.
Greg Coates
Greg Coates is an international recording and touring artist, multi instrumentalist, vocalist, composer/arranger and producer. He has released and collaborated with multitudes of artists in all styles on records, soundtracks, compilations and charity efforts. Having seen Soundgarden in a very early stage was a turning point for him and the band’s vibe, artistry, depth and magnitude is very much in line with his own creative rock efforts. Greg's meticulous attention to detail regarding chops, gear and tone prove he's a mega-force to be reckoned with.
